ABOUT AMSTERDAM BEATS
Amsterdam Beats was founded by Floris Mentink. Together with his friend Wessel van den Broek they are running Amsterdam Beats, making high quality beats. Floris is specialized in new school type beats, combining real instruments with computer plugins and new technology. Most of his beats are uptempo and fast, which matches his personality. Wessel is a multi-instrumentalist, specialized in old school and live beats. In his live recording studio he makes his beats with 100% real instruments, which he all plays himself.
Floris and Wessel met while studying guitar at the best school for music education in The Netherlands, the Fontys Rock Academy. Other graduates from this school are a.o.: Hardwell (DJ/Producer), Duncan Laurens (Winner Eurovision Song Contest 2019) and Floor Jansen (Nightwish). This is where they learned to make music that matches the world standard. But now they have switched their focus to the world of Hip Hop making beats and spreading them into the world with an Amsterdam signature.
Up until this point, more than 5000 rappers have used beats from Amsterdam Beats.

Floris Mentink
Hey there! My name is Floris, founder of- and producer at Amsterdam Beats. I was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands by my amazing musical parents. They introduced me to various instruments at a young age, but I discovered my true passion when I bought my first guitar and downloaded a version of Fruity Loops at the age of 12. I combined both and started experimenting with various new sounds that I still use today.
Since then, I have gained a lot of experience and contacts in the music industry. Through my college education at the Rockacademie (where I met Wessel) and the Academy for Creative Industries I was introduced in the world of festivals and was part of the organizational team of a.o. Paaspop (90.000 visitors) and Amsterdam Dance Event (400.000 visitors). Later I started working at the tour management division of Nicky Romero, San Holo & Taska Black. There I picked up a lot of modern sounds and EDM influences, that I use in my music today.
My producing style is modern, vibrant and energetic. Combining my knowledge of the industry with my skills as a producer, I will make you a modern beat that is perfect for the industry as it is today. For my beats, I’m using various instruments and I combine them with the latest technological innovations. This is what makes my sound different from other producers.
Wessel van den Broek
Hi, I’m Wessel, a young producer and artist based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Originally I’m a guitarist just like Floris and a drummer, but later I discovered recording, mixing and producing music to truly be my thing.
Musically I come from a raw but diverse background. I grew up listening to 90’s Hip Hop, Jazz, Hardcore Punk, Soul and the like, picking up things from every genre and incorporating those into my sounds.
As long as the sound is raw, true, and comes with an attitude, I’ll eat it.
I studied at the Fontys School of Fine & Performing Arts (Rockacademie), where I learned the craft of listening to music. Playing and creating is one thing, but hearing and knowing what music needs is something different.
